The State Geologist is the chief administrator of the Wyoming Geological Survey, as well as a member of various boards, commissions and groups in Wyoming. Preferences: Bachelor's degree in hydro-geology or geological engineering PLUS a Wyoming PG or PE license is required or must be obtained within 6 months of starting the job. Responsible for overseeing and coordinating statewide groundwater and surface water programs in the Land Quality Division (LQD), with special emphasis on coal, insitu and hard rock mining. Work is performed with considerable latitude for independent judgment and with minimal supervision and supervises a small hydrology support group that includes surface and groundwater positions, and routinely interacts with section supervisors, division heads, and agency heads. Hiring Range $5,511 - $6,483/mo.

Project Geologist

Preference will be given to those applicants with 1-5 years of progressive experience in Geology, groundwater hydrology and GIS and to those with an M.S. in Geology or Geological Engineering, with expertise in groundwater hydrology as it pertains to mining, and proficiency in GIS applications specifically pertaining to mining. Professional Geologist License (PG) or Professional Engineering License (PE) is required or must be obtained within 6 months of starting the job. Requires expertise in evaluating potentially environmentally high-risk groundwater hydrology mining issues and expertise in Geographic Information System applications. Hiring range is $4,569 - $5,375 per month.
